Ingredients

  • 250 g butter, at room temperature
  • 90 g seed oil
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 130 g icing sugar
  • 600 g all - purpose flour
  • 50 g corn flour/ corn starch
  • 3 g baking powder
  • Drops of vanilla or butter - vanilla extract

For decoration:

  • 50 - 60 g couverture chocolate
  • 1 tsp seed oil
  • Edible decorations


How to

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add the egg, then the vanilla extract and seed oil.
  3. Sift the flour and baking powder and add them gradually.
  4. Continue beating until all ingredients are incorporated.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 min.
  6. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.6 - 0.8 cm and cut the cookies with a heart - shaped cookie cutter.
  7. Transfer to a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven (set to fan) at 355°F - 180°C for 15-20 min (depending on the intensity of the oven).
  8. Let them cool on a wire rack.
  9. Melt the couverture chocolate and seed oil in a bain marie or microwave.
  10. Transfer the melted couverture chocolate to a piping bag and decorate the heart cookies with the edible decorations.
  11. Allow the decoration to set and enjoy the heart cookies with your loved ones!

Note from Greek jar:

To make my cookies, I used a 7cm long cookie cutter and with the ingredients above, I made 48 cookies, just what I needed. Adjust the ingredients and cookie cutter size to your preference and make your very own unique heart cookie!

During the warmer months, it is good to take the dough out of the fridge a little at a time to make the cookies easier to work with.
