Ouzo or tsipouro???

Entering any Greek taverna, you'll quickly notice that two spirits dominate: ouzo and tsipouro. These drinks aren't just for a sip… They're for enjoying life the Greek way!

Ouzo is like Greece in a glass. It’s been around forever, with roots that go way back. Imagine sitting by the waves, with the sun setting and a glass of ouzo in hand. Add a little water and ice, and before you taste it, watch the magic as it turns cloudy, a small show from the anethole. Then, let the taste and aroma of anise flood your senses, whispering stories from ancient distilleries. Some of us love this intoxicating anise aroma, some avoid it. Either way, pair it with some olives, grilled octopus, or a variety of ouzo meze, and live the Greek dream.

Then there's tsipouro, the cool “cousin” that’s been a hit at the …party in recent years. Made mostly from grape pomace (the mass left after pressing grape pulp), it has a robust, straightforward “personality” that wins hearts all over and, over the years, gains a loyal following, creating its own identity. Pure and unfiltered, tsipouro is versatile. Enjoy it neat, maybe with a little water and ice, and let the good times roll with tasty bites of Greek cuisine that elevate it.

But what makes these spirits special? It’s not just the taste, but the experience. It’s the lazy afternoons, the laughter, the clinking glasses. It’s the joy of sharing moments with friends and family. Ouzo is perfect for those relaxed moods and will give you a delightful buzz, while tsipouro leaves its own mark on the gathering, keeping you company with a more discreet “presence.”

In Greece, every sip of ouzo or tsipouro is a nod to tradition, a celebration of the present, and a toast to the future. So, whether you’re a fan of the old-fashioned charm of ouzo or the bold spirit of tsipouro, one thing is certain: you’ll enjoy it! Grab a glass, raise it high, and say “Cheers” to the flavors of Greece. So… Cheers, and have a great rest of the summer, everyone!
