In Greece we have a love affair with cheese pies! This time we take some of their basic ingredients, give them a round shape and make multigrain cheese balls! Ingredients

  • 300 g self-rising flour
  • 140 g whole wheat flour
  • 200 g yogurt
  • 200 g olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp poppy seed
  • 2 tbsp flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds


For the filling

  • 100 g cream cheese
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 - 3 tbsp chopped mint
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • Salt (optional, it depends on the type of cheese we will use)


For brushing

  • Milk
  • Poppy seed

How to

  1. Mix the yogurt, olive oil, seeds, salt and pepper and gradually add the flour.
  2. Knead until the ingredients are incorporated.
  3. Refrigerate the dough for one hour.
  4. Make the filling by mixing in a bowl the egg , cream cheese, feta cheese in crumbles, mint and freshly ground pepper.
  5. Make 40 g balls , roll each of them into a sheet and add the filling.
  6. Close the filling, giving them a round shape and place them on a baking tray with parchment paper.
  7. Brush them with milk, sprinkle with poppy seeds and bake in a pre-heated oven (set to fan) at 390 oF - 200 oC for about 20 - 25 min.
  8. Allow to cool on a wire rack and enjoy. They are just as delicious warm or cold!
